Book reviews

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

So it’s been nearly three months since I last posted. Oops. Life (by which I mostly mean work) got in the way and so I’ve had no interest at all in blogging, which is a shame because I’ve read a lot of books in that time.

If I went through each book and gave it a proper review I’d be here for hours (possibly days) before I was all caught up so instead I’m going to keep it simple by just listing them along with the important info.

  1. One by Sarah Crossan:
    • Date read – July 4 to July 7
    • Goodreads rating – 4 stars
  2. A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab:
    • Date read – July 9 to July 12
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  3. A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab:
    • Date read – July 17 to July 28
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  4. The Land of Stories: An Author’s Odyssey by Chris Colfer:
    • Date read – August 11 to August 16
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  5. The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood:
    • Date read – August 16 to August 19
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  6. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson:
    • Date read – August 20 to August 27
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  7. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour:
    • Date read – August 27 to August 30
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  8. Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs:
    • Date read – August 31 to September 6
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  9. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli:
    • Date read – September 7 to September 10
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  10. Uprooted by Naomi Novik:
    • Date read – September 12 to September 28
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  11. Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley:
    • Date read – September 29 to October 3
    • Goodreads rating – 3 stars
  12. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman:
    • Date read – October 6 to October 12
    • Goodreads rating – 4 stars
  13. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff:
    • Date read – October 22 to October 24
    • Goodreads rating – 5 stars

That list doesn’t include re-reading the fourth book in The Land of Stories before An Author’s Odyssey, nor re-reading Illuminae before Gemina.

Overall it’s been an average few months of reading, with some books taking longer to get through than I was anticipating and only a couple of great reads. I’m just sorry that I’ve had no energy to put into blogging during that time. Here’s hoping that now things are a little calmer for me at work I’ll want to spend time on here.
